    • Seat Height

  • Notes on comfort

    • As stylish as a think sleek arm can be, they are known to be less comfortable. That being said, not all pieces need to be comfortable. There is noting wrong with a little eye candy. But if this is your go to reading chair or something that you intend to be sit on for long periods of time, thing about this.

    • The back height of a chair should be considered if this is what is being selected for binge watching Netflix. You will want to make sure it is high enough to support the back of your head. We like something in the range of 38”H/.

    • We HIGHLY recommend you taking inventory of the sizes of furnace of what you already have. Measure what you feel is comfortable and what you don’t like. Take notes. Go and try out pieces at local retailers and see what dimensions work for you. The ones you want to focus on are: Back Height, Seat Hight, Seat Depth, Arm Height.

    • A loose seat and back cushion are known to be more comfortable than tight cushions and tufting.

  • Proportions with other furniture pieces

    • Seat Height should be generally in same as the coffee table or ottoman height. For example if you have a lower s seat which is lets ay 15” h and a coffee table that is 19”, that would feel off and most likely uncomfortable.

  • Seat Cushions

    • Seat Memory. We love a big fluffy couch, bu the more fluffy it is, the messier it tends to be when no one is sitting in it. You want to make sure that fabric is shirty enough not to stretch over time and the sofa is filled properly so you are not having to fluff your cushions every time you get up.

LEGS

  • Think about how you want the legs of all of the furniture to balance themselves out. For example if you have a sofa, club chairs and a ottoman all in a space and none of them had legs and were all full bottoms it can look very heavy. As well as if you had all the same furniture pieces with all open legs, they could compete with each other and bee too busy. So try and find a balance. Here is a gallery of what we think is a successful balance.
