CHOOSING BY FUNCTION

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING

• If you need more than size X, only jumbo slab available.

• Make sure edge you want or need is available

• What is your appetite for maintenance

• If local water is heavy in minerals, the water will leave spots on solid-colored, dark countertops

• Desired thickness and what’s possible with materials. 3/4” and 1 1/4” are typical sizes. Not all materials have both. You can achieve a chunkier 2-3” thickness by having edges mitered to appear thicker than they are.

TIPS FOR ORDERING

• Approve your slab at the stoyeyard. Each stone or dye lot is different. Can review with fabricator which part of the stone you definitely want or don’t want.

• Review seam locations. Where can they be more concealed or kept clean?

• Some materials seam better than others (less visible)

• If need a small amount, ask for a remnant versus a new piece

• Don’t forget install costs and tax when comparing quotes
